Adepticon Coverage: Championships Part 2

Adepticon Recap: Part 1

The 10th anniversary of Adepticon has come and pass and another great event is in the books. We had a great turnout for both of our Rings events.

The Lord of the Rings community continues to be the most understanding, fun loving, and drama free group I would say of any convention, too many ties in sportsmanship scores!

With the release of GW's new warband army building system so close to Adepticon we allowed both formats for both events. Match-up issues were not a problem between old and new versions, and the lack of a Legions clear cut allied list did not leave us with odd army types or cheesy formulas.

Here is the first of a couple photo coverages on the event.

Best Overall: John Humphrey

Best General: Julian Micu

Best Appearance: Kyle Toth

Best Sportsmanship: Jamie Welling

Best Overall... Bazinga: Jeff Reske

The Board is Set

The Board is set and the pieces are moving for the great convention of our time. From across the nation gamers will descend upon a Westin hotel for a packed weekend.

For our sold out Lord of the Rings events, this will continue the great tradition of Indy events all over the country of having THE best terrain and environments for players to throw down on.

It is going to be a great weekend packed with tons of fun games, treats, and give aways. Check back for coverage and results.

The Dark Tower

There they stood, ranged along the hill-sides, met
To view the last of me, a living frame
For one more picture! in a sheet of flame
I saw them and I knew them all. And yet
Dauntless the slug-horn to my lips I set,
And blew. ``Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came.''

Orthanc Rising

Welcome back to another installment of, Building Orthanc. If you were wondering, this is where the construction crews have been instead of finishing lower whacker drive... This will be the final update before its premier unveiling at Adepticon, Friday April 20th.

I give you the completed tower before it faces the paint brush. I can proudly say, not counting lego versions, that this will be the 4th built recreation of this movie icon according to a google search.

The balcony can fit a standard 25mm based model, perfect for over seeing an army before it marches to war. Thankfully the entire piece is big enough that the spikes, spires, and edges will not get in the way of players moving models or baggy sleeves.

This pinnacle of blue foam measures in at a final 42.5 inches tall with close to 1000 individual pieces cut and glued. At this point Plastruct should give me stock options...

" Together, my lord Sauron, we shall rule this Middle-earth. The old world will burn in the fires of industry. Forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machine of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the orc." The Two Towers

To complete the fire and ash of Isengard, here is a sneak peek at some additional terrain for the final tournament table. I cannot wait to see some games with this terrain; I think it will be a real treat for all fans.
